Hobbies Don’t Look Good on a Resume

99.9% of the time, listing hobbies in your resume is a bad idea, contradicting what some publications suggest. Consider placing such details within your resume *only* when you know with absolute certainty that such details will have an impact on the recipient.

Oh, it’s true that some jobseekers will report success from listing hobbies, however, an interviewer taking interest in a candidate’s hobbies is only one element introduced during the interview. Is it possible that kayaking, playing chess, or crocheting could tip the scale in your favor? It’s possible. It’s about as plausible as a woman landing a job based on confidence level, or a man getting hired because he has a nice smile.
