I wish this were brought into the light more. My boss is not too bad at interrupting but my co-worker will interrupt me to end. I find this stupid on his part, as he will ask me a question and interrupt me before I can even get to the main point of my answer. He cheats himself 2 ways: my respect for him decreases and he doesn't get the answer he really wanted. This not a day and age to be self-absorbed.

This is all pretty good advice, but #2 isn't always realistic. Even before the days of applying online, their were blind ads for employment. In some cases, the company name is included, and a little research might get you the name of the HR Rep or the Hiring Manager. I think it bears specific mention that this little bit investigative work can go a long way. :)

All great suggestions and ideas. However, each suggestion has an external focus such as speaking publicly, networking, etc.

Equally as important is focusing internally, quiet contemplation. Such as meditation or even keeping a journal.

I used to think it was a numbers game but its definitely more than that you need to make sure your focused and consistent and persistent - you need to remember you're not the only person in the world and undoubtedly the person interviewing just wants to go home !

Dan Sullivan is spot on. I particularly like Tony Robbins - he got me out of a massive rutt and I'm now confronting my fears.

The commodity of time is equal for all of us - unlike money - there are no favorites so use it wisely ..... I like your strategy on blogging and tweets - I have the same problem starting from scratch is a killer - I need a little push - a starting point after which you just can't shut me up.

Thanks for the site - excellent tips.... added you to my feed.

Keyword in every job interview is preparation. You have to know what you wrote in your resume, be ready for back up information if ever they ask. Do a little research about the company so they'll see your interest. Be prepared to answer some out of the box questions as some companies love to ask these things to gauge how you handle pressure and stress.

Come in relaxed and confident!
